James B. Ahrens 72, died Wednesday (Oct. 25, 2006) at Community Hospital in McCook.

He was born on March 12, 1934, at McCook to Frances Henry and Minnie T. (Herron) Ahrens. He attended McCook schools.

On Jan. 9, 1954, he married Delores F. Fisher at Goodland, Kan. They made their home in McCook where he was a carpenter and worked for the North Platte Lumber Company.

After his retirement, he worked for the McCook School's Lunch Program delivering meals to the various school buildings.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Minnie Ahrens; his wife, Delores Ahrens in 1998; one son, Dusty Lee Ahrens; and one brother, Albert H. Ahrens.

Survivors include his son, Jim Ahrens and wife, Linda, of North Platte; one daughter, DeEtte and husband, Joseph Wilson, of Harrison, Ark.; one sister, Jackie Ahrens of McCook; three grandsons; one step-granddaughter; five great-grandchildren; and special friend, Sharon Daugherty

Funeral service will be Monday, 10 a.m., at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home with Terry McCorkle officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be today and Friday until 5 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon and Sunday from 5-8 p.m. Friends may send condolences to www.carpenterbreland.com.
