Joan Amanda Leanna, age 77, died Sunday, May 22, 2016 at the Carrington Assisted Living in Green Bay. Joan was born Christmas Day, December 25, 1938 in Kolberg, WI, the daughter of Melvin and Arvilla (Schumacher) Maedke. She graduated from Brussels High School, then followed her passion for nursing at the School of Vocational and Adult Education Practical Nurse Program in Neenah-Menasha, WI, graduating in 1967. For over 30 years, she worked as a nurse with the Brown County Health Department. She also owned and managed the Cabernet and Kozy Korner Bars in Green Bay for several years. Joan was an animal lover of all kinds, having dogs and cats as pets throughout her life. Surviving are cousins Janice (Dwight) Krimbill; Cindy (Brien) Sargent; Tracy (Michael) Schroeder; an aunt, Caroline Schumacher. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, aunts and uncles. Memorial service Friday May 27, 2016 at the Schinderle Funeral Home, Algoma, with Reverend Howard Batt of Grace Lutheran Church, Kewaunee, officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery at a later date.
