John Aplin died in 1772 at the age of 63 per the inscription. His DOB would be estimated as 1709. He was a lawyer in Providence, RI in his earlier years.

He married twice – 1st to Hannah Paine who died 10/21/1758 – buried at Old Burial Ground, Providence, RI. 2nd marriage Sarah Bowen at St John's (former Kings Church), Providence, RI 4-24-1760.
John moved to Plainfield (i.e. Killingly area formally Plainfield in early 1760s) and he had three children by Sarah. Their births are registered in Plainfield, CT currently.

John Aplin died on 7/22/1772 per the inscription. The photo of the inscritpion at the foot of his table stone, much eroded and lichen-covered was provided by Elaine Knowlton the Brooklyn Historical Society. The Rhode Island, Vital Extracts, 1636-1899, Vol. 13, Providence Gazetter - Deaths, page 127 reports his DOD as July 21, 1772, different from the inscription.

The Old Trinity Church 1921 commemorative plaque was stolen from the southwest corner of the church in 2002. A picture of the former location is included here followed by a photo of the recovered plaque where Aplin is noted as being amongst the family names connected with the church.
