Bob was the son of A. J. and Fanny Creech, the oldest of their seven children, and the grandson of Joshua and Prudence Creech , all of Red Hill Township in Ouachita County, Arkansas. When Bob was 19, his father died, leaving him to support his mother and younger siblings, Rosetta, Chris "Lum", Ed, Lillie, Mittie, and Clara - Clara being born the month their father died. Bob worked at the lumber mill in Chidester, and in 1897, his brothers becoming old enough to help support the rest of the family, he wed Mary Marlar. Bob and Mary had eleven children, nine boys and two girls, Euphy, Luther, Charles, Buel, Ellis, Paul, Myrtis, Leo, Louis, Van Buren, and Horace. Sadly, they lost two of the children, Charlie dying of pneumonia at age 11, and Leo drowning in the Ouachita River at the age of 15. Bob and Mary were married 49 years when his death parted them, at the age of 81.

Besides working at the lumber mill, where he was the night watchman, Papaw Bob was a beekeeper - and he never flinched when a bee stung him. He bought pelts from local trappers for resale, and he was also a Justice of the Peace.

Bob was my great-grandfather. I was so young when he passed I unfortunately have no memories of him, but he is fondly remembered by the older folks in the family.

Many thanks to Jeanette for her work on this memorial!
