Harold Jacob Echtinaw, Jr. of Seattle, WA, age 69, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 22, 2016, in Seattle, WA., after a long struggle with cancer.

Born November 24, 1946, in Kalamazoo, MI, he graduated from Galesburg-Augusta High School in Galesburg, MI, before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1966. He completed a tour of duty in Vietnam, was stationed in Korea, and served as a Military Police Investigator while stationed in Fort Harrison, IN, Fort Lewis, WA, Italy, Germany, and Ft. Monroe, VA.

Upon his discharge in 1981, he lived several years in Jennings County, IN, where he worked as a real estate salesman at Country Squire Lakes, twice being named "Salesman of the Year". He moved to Seattle in 1988, where he worked as a property manager until retiring.

As a young man, Sid enjoyed stock car racing. He played guitar, and enjoyed singing and karaoke nights. While in Seattle, he attended the Unity Church and enjoyed participating in Native American events. An incredibly bright man, Sid spoke fluent Italian and had a wicked sense of humor. He was not without his demons in life, but later on his faith in Christ and his continued sobriety helped put some of those demons to rest.

He is survived by his children, Sherri (Dr. Christopher Copeland) Echtinaw of Knoxville, TN, Melissa (Kenny Vogel) Kopitzke of Hayden, IN, Michelle (Scott) Green of North Vernon, IN, and Shannon (Cody Ramey) Carr of Commiskey, IN, and their mother Nannie "Ruthie" Echtinaw of North Vernon, IN. He is also survived by his daughter Katrina (Jason L. Lewis) Echtinaw of Maple Valley, WA, his sister, LaRena Lynn (Jeff) Gibson of Kalamazoo, MI, his aunt Violetta Noel-Lynn of Forney, TX, his grandchildren, Kelcie Kopitzke, Riley (Ian) Smith, Autumn Baber, Juston Carr, Peyten Earnest, Mason Echtinaw, Braydon Carr, Oliver Ramey, Caitlyn Sherlock, and Cassandra Sherlock, his niece Tammi (Ernie) Voight, and nephews Brian (Cathy) Echtinaw, Brad (Laura) Echtinaw, John (Laura) Echtinaw, and Greg (Nikki) Echtinaw.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Srackangast Echtinaw of Galesburg, MI, his parents, Harold J. Echtinaw, Sr. and LaRena "Lucky" Echtinaw, his brothers Harry Echtinaw and Terry "Hogan" Echtinaw, all of Kalamazoo, MI, his nephew Timothy Lee Echtinaw of Fayetteville, TN, his son-in-law Jason Allyn Carr of Commiskey, IN, an infant sister, and two infant grandchildren, Chalie Lynn Baber, and Auston Levi Matthew Carr.
