DEATH OF JOHN W. ALLEN --
The body of John W. Allen was brought to this city Saturday night from Puxico, Missouri, and was taken to Alfordsville, his old home, for interment, Sunday afternoon. Death occurred in Puxico, where Mr. Allen had gone two years ago to make his home with his son B. W. Allen. He was a native of Reeve township, and lived for many years at Alfordsville, where he was in the mercantile business and where he served as postmaster. Death came at the age of seventy-two.
Besides the son the following sisters and brothers survive; Mrs. Esther Godwin and Mrs. Emily Chandler of Washington; Mrs. J. M. Barr of Montgomery; Mrs. J. W. McCord of Peoria, Illinois; Mrs. Eliza Hubbard of Odon; S. C. Allen of Linton and C. N. Allen of Alfordsville. (Martin County Tribune - Thurs., Feb. 12, 1920, pg. 1)
