Eunice News, May 27, 2016:

EUNICE ~ It is with heavy hearts that the family of George "Frog" Franklin Coleman announces his passing with loving family by his side. He was 68. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Paul Cemetery with Monsignor Robert Romero Celebrant.

George graduated from Eunice High School in 1966 and enlisted in the US Navy the same year. He completed Navy Shipfitter A School in 1967 with Class 670B. Served in the Vietnam War from 1967 thru 1970 on the USS Ajax (AR-6) and the USS Jason (AR-8). During that time he received a letter of appreciation for making repairs on the USS Brule (AKL-28) while it was stranded in inland Vietnam waterways. Following his time in the service he worked as a commercial building sprinkler fitter in south Louisiana and Texas and then as an oil and gas pipeline QA/QC inspector all across the United States and overseas. He was a member of the VFW and local union 669.

George known to many as "Frog" was a loving father, brother, grandfather, and friend and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his two sons, William Chad Coleman of Eunice and Matthew George Coleman of Houston; two brothers, John Wesley Coleman and wife, Bonnie of Sulphur and James "Ty" Coleman and wife, Debbie of Waxahachie, TX; a sister, Sedonia "Syd" Michelli and husband, Gene of Pride, LA; his six grandchildren, Jackson Walker and Orrin Luke Coleman, Kadyn Alyse Grayson, Johna Margaret, Easten Matthew and Sabey Hope Coleman; as well as extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, Margaret Ann Fontenot Coleman; parents, Oscar "Slim" and Virginia "Tootsie" Savoy Coleman and a brother, Robert "Bob" Coleman.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice on Friday, May 27th from 12 noon until 9:00 pm and again on Saturday, May 28th from 8:00 am until time of services. Deacon Gary Gaudin will recite a Rosary at 7:00 pm Friday.
