Shade Beaty was a tall man (6'), with blue eyes and black hair. He worked as a land surveyor. He lost sight in one eye due to a steer goring him. I was told he never cursed at all. The worse thing he would call anyone was "An ole Rebel" and he liked to sing jingles to his grandchildren. He would hide his moonshine beneath a tree and dig it up and take a nip once in a while.
