Elizabeth Metcalf Shelton was a daughter of Gabriel John "Abe" Metcalf and Susanna Fanny Jones Metcalf. From census records she was born 1838-1840 in Tennessee. She married Noah Shelton April 18, 1857 in Madison Co., NC. They had three children, Elbert Shelton b. 1858, Doctor Nelson Shelton b. 1860 and Loretta Jane Shelton b.1862. Noah Shelton died 25 May 1862 in The Civil War.
