Larry was born on March 10,1942, in Minden to Reuben and Thurza (Jorgensen) Nelson. Larry grew up in the
Minden area and graduated from Minden High School in 1960. He farmed north of Minden. Larry was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Vietnam War. After serving in the U.S. Navy he returned to farm in the Minden area.
On October 10, 1971, he married Denise Swindell, and they lived north of Minden.
Larry was a member of the United Methodist Church in Minden and the Chaparral Motorcycle Club in Hastings.
Larry loved his children and was very proud of them. He enjoyed car races, tractor pulls, farming; especially harvest time and his friends. Larry always had a story to tell.
Survivors include two daughters, Kristie Keyser and her husband, Tim, of Denver and Brenda Nelson of Omaha; one son, Ryan Nelson of Minden; one stepbrother, Ned Nelson of Grand Island; and a stepsister, Peggy Shalla of Lincoln.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his stepfather.
