Bio by BL Hughes: James Barnet Hughes married Bertha J. Mellon. He lived on Route 175 to the left of the North Ashland Road junction.

Cards have been received in town announcing the marriage reception of Bertha Jackson Mellon and James Barnet Hughes, Jr., Wednesday evening, April 3, from 8 until 9:30, at 16 McKinley Avenue, Beverly, Mass. Mr. and Mrs. Hughes will be at home after June 1, at Church Street, Whitingsville, Mass. Mr. James B. Hughes, Jr., is an Ashland young man, graduating from the local graded schools and spending his boyhood days in this place. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James B. Hughes, formerly of this place, but now residing in Concord. His many friends in Ashland join in wishing he and Mrs. Hughes a long life of happiness in their new relations. James B. Hughes, Manager of the Plymouth Buick Company entertained his mechanics at a steak dinner Monday evening.
