Emmett Fulkerson enlisted in Co F, 4th Regiment,MO Cavalry as a 1st Sgt on April 28, 1862 in Memphis, TN. During the
war,he was captured and was on the Roll of Prisoners in Rock Island, IL, transfered to Sandusky, OH July 7, 1964.He was transferred from Johnson's Island,OH to New Orleans, LA January 9, 1865. He had been promoted to 3rd LT. ( Military Records from NARA)
He was married to Nannie A. Whitehead March 17, 1868 in Buchanan, MO. Their children were Freddie Jo and Annie.
Fulkerson was likely the first one buried at Black Tower.
