William Washington Wells was the son of William David Wells and Martena Elizabeth Ford Wells. He married Mary Ann Schutz on 6 January 1880 in White Hall, Greene County, Illinois. According to his great grandaughter, after moving to Arkansas, he would walk every year back to Illinois to visit his siblings in Hillview and Patterson, Greene Co. He would ride by train part of the time, but would wear out a pair of shoes each year. He led the singing and taught Sunday School, and he also occasionally subbed at the school. He played a fiddle, too. Bio and photo provided by Beth Thurman.
