He enjoyed hunting, fishing and his horses.
Born in Blue Ball, he was the son of the late Benjamin F. and Clara V. Rutter Byers.
He was married 44 years to Dolores V. Welk Byers.
Surviving are two daughters, four sons, eight grandchildren; seven sisters, and three brothers.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Benjamin R. Byers.
