SUSAN AYNESWORTH DYER
1935-2016

Susan Aynesworth, aged 80, peacefully died surrounded by her family on May 19, 2016 in Austin, Texas. Raised in Waco, she was the oldest daughter of Dr. Morgan Brian Aynesworth and Rosalis Oltorf Aynesworth. She graduated from Waco High School and The University of Texas. Susan was a Hedonia Debutante and a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority.

After marrying George Evans Brown, Susan moved to New York City where she worked for the United Nations. The couple was relocated to the Dominican Republic and Brazil while George was in the Foreign Service. Susan returned to the United States in 1973 and received her Masters in Interpersonal Relations from George Washington University. In 1977 she married Cromwell Adair Dyer, a prominent attorney for the Hague Conference, and they spent many years in the Netherlands before returning to Austin.

Always one to have her own identity and ambitions, Susan became a professor teaching Organizational Behavior at Webster University Leiden. She also ran workshops and training programs for the diplomatic corps for many years.

She loved international travel, fine food and wine, antiquing and designing, speaking Portugese and Dutch, a good political debate, plants, and riding horses, while also being a fabulous cook. She loved all animals, and never turning down an opportunity to adopt, at one point had a rabbit, monkey, parrot, and too many dogs and cats to admit! She appreciated others from all cultures and backgrounds and spent her life traveling and learning.

Services Pending. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Susan’s memory to the American Humane Association (www.americanhumane.org)
