Norman worked as a pipe fitter for the Shell Oil refinery located in Roxana, Madison County, Illinois. He was employed there for 22 years. After he retired from Shell, he continued working as a pipe fitter and welder with Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #553 in East Alton, Illinois.
Norman was a member of St. Kevin's Catholic Church in Rosewood Heights.
Gertrude passed away on 04 Aug 1988.
Norman lived until 1999. He died at Calhoun Care Center at the age of 90 years, 11 months and 9 days.
He was survived by 1 sister, Genevieve Moses of Golden Eagle, Illinois; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Norman was preceded in death by his mother and father; 2 brothers, Wilmer Arnold and Stanley Arnold; and 2 sisters, Florence Friedel and Eileen Friedel.
Visitation was held from 9:30 a.m. until the beginning of a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. on the morning of 29 Jul 1999 at St. Kevin's Catholic Church in Rosewood Heights.
The family requested that memorials, if desired, be made to the church, St. Kevin's Catholic School or to the charity of one's choice.
