One son: Ellsworth Coulter Mechlin (1909-1969). The 1940 census shows bachelor 30-year-old Ellsworth still living with his widowed mother, Cinderella.
Two years later, on 2 October 1942, Ellsworth, age 32, married a woman half his age, Betty Jo Kisling, age 16. Betty died a year later, 27 October 1943, one day after giving birth to their son on 26 October. The baby died shortly thereafter.
