Aumsville - Francis, 85, died May 15 in Aumsville. He was born in Sublimity and lived all of his life in the area. Francis served in the US Army during the Korean War. He married Frances "Fran" Pietrok on February 23, 1957 in Salem.
Francis farmed all of his life. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sublimity, where he served on the Parish Council for 6 years. Francis served on the Aumsville Elementary School Board for 8 years, the Sublimity Harvest Festival Board for over 25 years, American Pacific Bank Board for over 24 years, and Santiam Hospital Board Member for over 20 years. He coached Aumsville Little League.
Francis received the OSU Diamond Pioneer Award in 2010, and the Raymond Boedigheimer Certificate of Achievement Award from the Sublimity Harvest Festival in 1985.
He is survived by his wife: Frances "Fran" of Aumsville; children: Gwen (Bob) Mader of Aumsville, Brian (Carol) Hendricks of Scio, Roger (Kathy) Hendricks of Stayton and Terrence Hendricks of Aumsville; sister: Anna Wolf of Sublimity; brothers: Herman Hendricks and Cletus Hendricks both of Sublimity and Allen Hendricks of Edmonds, WA; and grandchildren: Ryan, Richard and Kelsie Hendricks. Francis was preceded in death by son, Gilbert Leon Hendricks and brother, Leonard Hendricks.
Recitation of Rosary will be Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at 7:00 pm and Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 11:00 am both at St. Boniface Church. Interment will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to one's own favorite charity. Serving the family, North Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.
