Candler - Mattie Elizabeth Keener Cabe, 89, of Warrens Creek, died Tuesday, June 17, 2003.

A native of Rabun County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Emory N. and Huldah Burnette Holbrook Keener. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ray Norman Cabe, who died in 1997; three brothers, Lee, Will and George Keener; and two grandsons, Timothy Cabe and Dale Underwood. She was a member of Dryman Chapel United Methodist Church of Otto and attended Faith United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed watching television, sewing, cooking and gardening.

She is survived by her daughter, Alice Underwood and her husband, Sam, of Clyde; son, Ralph Cabe and his wife, Linda, of Candler; sister, Ruth Garland of Highlands; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Revs. W.T. Medlin and Virgil Holloway officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be John and Jason Cabe, Jack Rathbone, Frankie Spears, Phil Banks, Willard Garland, Gerald Keener and James Gosnell.
