From Camp Travis

Items of interest to the home folks from the Murray county boys in Company 23, 6th Battalion, 165th Depot Brigade, Camp Travis, Texas:

The jolly bunch which left Davis April 26th arrived at Camp Travis the night of the 28th, all well and happy but just a little tired. We must thank the local board for the routing which allowed a thirty minute lay-over at Giddings, Texas, where the boys had their last chance to take one over the bar.

Everyone took out the maximum amount of insurance, %10,000. This is a good record and shows that the boys are thinking of the ones they left behind.

Uniforms were issued last Friday morning and we all had very good luck in securing good fitting garments.

Cowboy Ervin Harmon from Davis is now a real good looking soldier. We don't like to brag but we think we are a keen looking outfit in our khaki.

We got our second "shot" today and the old heads tell us the second shot is the worst so I guess we are over the bad part. We are still in quarantine and so far have been unable to visit the city of San Antonio. We hope to give it the "once over" some time next week.

The lunch provided by the local board was very much enjoyed by all.
