He was born January 29, 1919, in Highland, Ulster County, NY, which is a community in the Town of Lloyd, the son of Ernest W. and Nancy (MAYOR) HANSCHE, Sr. On August 30, 1942, he married the love of his life: Hazel SCHIMMEL.
Although he did not serve the United States as a member of the military, he worked for more than forty years for the United States Navy, as an Electrical Engineer. He was the "trouble-shooting" expert that they called on where there were issues with the ships, subs or any other machine that was not working the way that it should. His know-how enabled him to travel the world and be able to see many things that he would not have been able to see otherwise: Iran, Cuba and an extended stay in Hawaii were just a few of his many destinations.
Ernest was very involved in his community and served as a Boy Scout Leader, and was the recipient of the "Silver Beaver Award" for his devotion to the Boy Scout Organization. He was also a very active member of the First Baptist Church in Keene. An avid outdoorsman, is interests included hunting, fishing, waterskiing, and hiking. Above all Earnest loved his family and believed in providing for them and teaching them the values of family and community. He felt that everything in life should be taken with a good sense of humor and there is never a time that is too serious to laugh.
He is survived by three daughters: Nancy A. Belsky and her husband Nicholas of Surry, NH, Sharon L. Jackson of Millis, MA and Gail L. Hansche Govin of Hubbardston, MA, his son: Ernest W. Hansche, III, of Spofford, NH, nine grandchildren, five great-grand- children and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He is predeceased by his wife: Hazel Hansche, a brother and two sisters.
A Memorial Service was held at the First Baptist Church of Keene, on Saturday, April 11, 2015. Burial was private and there were no calling hours.
