Naomi "Omi" L. Mahoney, 91, Marion, died at 1:57 AM, Monday, May 16, 2016, at Marion General Hospital. She was born in Urbana, IL to the late Vernal William and Eva V. (Allen) Downey. On November 16, 1946, she married Boyd L. "Bud" Mahoney. He died on December 23, 1991.
Naomi retired from General Tire after 26 ½ years, where she worked as a seamstress. She was a member of the River Church, Marion and the UAW Sympathy Club. She enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and attending their sporting events. Naomi also enjoyed going out to eat. Her favorite TV programs were Family Feud, Wheel of Fortune, Golden Girls and Andy Griffith.
She is survived by two daughters, Joylynn Cretsinger and Starlynn (Gary) Ashbrooke, both of Marion; sister, Phyllis Sullivan, Michigan; 5 grandchildren, Tracy Ent, Derek (Adrienne) Long, Cameron (Kelly) Long, Trina (Patrick) Nevers, Robert (Jaime) Ashbrooke; 15 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great- grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Naomi was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Tom Cretsinger; 4 sisters; and 2 brothers.
The family will receive visitors May 19, 2016, at Needham-Storey-Wampner, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Avenue, Marion, IN.
A funeral service May 20, 2016, at the funeral home, with Pastor Matthew Trexler officiating. Burial Grant Memorial Park.
