A native of Spartanburg County, he was a son of the late John Webster and Helen Smith O'Shields.
He was a member of the Putman Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He retired from United Merchants, Buffalo Plant.
Survivors include two sisters, Matrel O. Stribling and Hazel O. Babb of the Putman community; and two brothers, Emmett O'Shields of the Putman community and Horace O'Shields of Panama City, Fla.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Putman Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Donald Tillman. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m.
The family is at the home of his sister, Matrel Stribling, 3613 Buffalo-West Springs Highway.
