He emigrated from Germany in 1854 and settled in Waterloo County, Ontario.
On April 16, 1865, Louis got married for the 1st time to Catherine Caroline Elsaesser in Waterloo County. Marriage Microfil #1030066.
That marriage only lasted about 5 years with the death of Catherine in 1870.
He then got married for the 2nd time on May 18th, 1871 in Berlin, Ontario to Wilhelmina Schneider.
