Mrs. Branscome was the definition of unconditional love. She was a Christian that put a smile on everyone’s face she came in contact with whether over the phone, during her years working in beauty salons, at church, in her home, and just about everywhere. She was a joy to be around, always had a great story to tell, and full of humor. Her personality was one that was full of life and laughter. She was a devoted wife, mother, and a special Nawnaw.
She worked as a cosmetologist for most of her life with her most treasured years alongside her brother, Jesse Bradford, in his beauty salon in downtown Florence. She continued to work until she was nearly 80 years old and spent the rest of her life spending as much time as possible with family and friends. She especially enjoyed living with her sister, Regina Thompson, not long after becoming a widow. Mrs. Branscome was a long time member of Woodward Avenue Baptist Church.
Her husband of 60 years, William Clyde Branscome, and infant son, William Walker Branscome, brothers, Charles Edward Bradford and Jesse Calvin Bradford; and sister, Margaret Earline Bradford preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughter, Elaine Coan and husband, Lanny; grandchildren, Matthew Carpenter and wife, Ashley, Allison Dewberry and husband Roderick, and Paige Grabryan; great-grandchildren, Mattley and Brody Carpenter, Macaven Dewberry, and Brynne Grabryan; sister, Regina Thompson.
Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Tuesday, May 17, at Morrison Funeral Home in Tuscumbia. The funeral service will be at 2 pm Wednesday, May 18, at the funeral home chapel with burial following at Colbert Memorial Gardens. Casey Hagle will be officiating.
