Mary Ellen Acierno, 97, formerly of Bellevue, passed away April 26, 2016 at Elmwood at the Shawhan in Tiffin. She was born April 2, 1919 in Keyser, West Virginia, to the late John & Mary (High) Beckman. Mary graduated from Ridgely High School and Shepherd State Teachers College, in West Virginia. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Bellevue, and she taught fourth grade at Immaculate Conception School. She married Stephen C. Acierno June 6, 1942, and he preceded her in death August 7, 2000. She is survived by her children, Mary (Michael) Frisch of Tiffin, and Thomas (Cindi) Acierno of Galion, granddaughters, Tammy (Spencer) Armstrong and Tiffany Latka, 3 step grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Winifred Flook, and Dorothy Buskey. Private family services will be held. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Bellevue, also known as Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
