On his WW 1 draft registration, Wilber Roberts stated that he was a farmer at Bayside, Refugio, Texas, where he lived with his wife Mattie B. He was described as being tall and slender with light brown eyes and black hair.

The 1920 census recroded Wilber Roberts, 34, living and farming in Coryell County, Texas, with wife Mattie, 29, and children: Edgar, 12; Cleo Roberts, 10; Arlie, 8; Gadys [Gladys], 5; and Clifton, 3.

The 1930 census recorded Wilbur Roberts, 44, living on a farm in McCulloch County, Texas, with wife Mattie, 39, and children: Gladys, 16; Clifton, 13; Wilbur C., 9; Eldon D., 6; and Wanda P., 3. Also living in the home were son-in-law Leonard Kemp, 24, and daughter Cleo B. Kemp, 20.
