Barbara Ann Carpenter, 58, of MacFarlan, died Sunday, Mar. 19, 2000, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg. She was born in Ritchie County, the daughter of the late Thomas and Inda Bell Richards. She was a nurse and attended MacFarlan Community Church. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star. Surviving are three sons, Edward Paul Dobbins of Ellenboro, Richard Dobbins of Brohard and Ronald Carpenter of Newark; two daughters, Peggy Elliott of Smithville and Pamela Lownsberry of South Carolina; two sisters, Opal Valentine of Cleveland, Ohio, and Pauline Headley of Grantsville; two brothers, Basil Richards of Orlando, Fla., and Larry Richards of Cleveland; nine grand-children; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Dobbins. Services were scheduled for Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Charlene Spaur officiating, followed by burial in Beech Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Nicut. — Obituary published in the Calhoun Chronicle on 23 March 2000.
