James L. Jackson, 51, 204 Davis Boulevard, Sarasota, died Saturday. He came to Sarasota seven years ago from Tampa, his birthplace.

He was deputy tax assessor of DeSoto County. He was a member and former treasurer of the Shrine of the Master Church in Sarasota and was past director of the Credit Union of Florida, a former Tampa realtor, former tax consultant in Tampa; charter member of the Manhattan Methodist Church, and charter member of Cub Scout Troop 222.

He leaves his wife, Jean M. Jackson; his mother, Mrs. Pauline L. Jackson, both of Sarasota; five sons, James B. Jackson, Livingston, Ala., Gary L. Jackson and Lee R. Jackson, both of Tampa; Paul A. Jackson and Mark A. Jackson, both of Sarasota; a sister, Mrs. Barbara Stephens, Miami.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Robarts Funeral Home Cahpel, South Links Avenue at Ringling Boulevard, with the Rev. Dorothy Flexer and the Rev. Russell Flexer officiating.

Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
