Mrs. Amanda Jane Slinker, 87, died last Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Quince Young, 319 W. Front Street, with whom she had been residing for the past nine years. She had been an invalid since falling and breaking her hip. Her condition took a turn for the worse four months ago and she has been bedfast several day.

A native of Metcalfe County she was born March 31, 1861 near Edmonton, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Froedge. She was twice married, first to Mr. Henry Whitlow who died in 1895. She was married to Mr. J. A. Slinker in 1912, and he succumbed eight years ago.

She was a devout Christian character and had been a member of Missionary Mound Baptist Church near Edmonton since 14 years of age. She was the last member of her immediate family.

Besides her daughter, she is survived by fourteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. The deceased was the grandmother of Messrs. Herbert and Clyde Young, Glasgow, and Russell Young of Louisville.

Funeral services were held Sunday 1 p.m. at Missionary Mound Church with Rev. L. D. Robinson in charge. Burial was in the cemetery there.
