Ms. Cartner was born in Iredell County August 5, 1931, and was a daughter of the late Emitt Eugene and Amanda Mae Haire Tucker. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of Broad Street Church of Christ.
On October 25, 1952, she was married to D.R. Cartner, Sr, who preceded her in death on May 30, 1996. She was also preceded in death by three beloved siblings; her sister, Tyna Smith; and her brothers, Ernest and Harvey Tucker all of Statesville.
Christine is survived by her one son, D. R. Cartner Jr. and his wife Bonnie of Statesville; her sister Mrs. Ruby Gibson of Statesville; grandchildren Brittany Cartner, Bethany & Charlie Galliher, and Dillon & Hannah Cartner; and two great grandchildren Cody and Colt Galliher.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bunch Johnson Funeral Home, 705 Davie Ave., Statesville. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Broad Street Church of Christ, with Mr. Steve Short officiating. Burial will be at Iredell Memorial Gardens Statesville, followed by a luncheon at the church.
Pallbearers will be Dillon Cartner, Johny Smith, Tommy Smith, Charlie Galliher, Bobby Neilson and David Lowinger.
