Dorothy M. (Spain) Shumate, 92, of Danville, formerly of Potomac, died at 2:08 p.m. Sunday May 8th, 2016, at Danville Care Center in Danville.
Born August 27, 1923 in Potomac, the daughter of Jesse and Dora (Hoskins) Spain. She married Delbert Shumate on February 18, 1944 at Wateska, Illinois.
Survivors include daughters, Barbara (Gary) Riggleman and Mary (Keith) Osborn; sons, Delbert Allen Jr. (Pam) Shumate, Charles (Sherry) Shumate, Dwight (Dawne) Shumate, and David (Cheryl) Shumate; twenty grandchildren and one brother, Bob Spain.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one granddaughter, Robin Shumate; one great-granddughter, Savannah Bruns; three sisters, Alice, Mildred and Irene and three brothers, Truman (Buck), Wilbur and Jim.
She was a member of the Potomac Church of Christ.
