Mr. James “Jimmy” Lewyn Sykes,55, of Indianola, MS, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2016, in Shaw, MS.

Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at First Baptist Church in Indianola. Celebration of Life services will immediately follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at First Baptist Church in Indianola with Rev. Matthew Morgan and Rev. Guy Burke officiating. Interment will be in Smith Cemetery in Rosebloom, MS.

Mr. Sykes was born in Cleveland, MS, on November 29, 1960, to John Byers Sykes and Juanita Tribble Sykes. On September 3, 1983, he married Paula Smith in Charleston, MS. He worked for 35 years as a Fertilizer Salesman and Manager, and he dearly loved his job. He was a member of Skene Baptist Church as well as the Cleveland Masonic Lodge #470. In his spare time, he enjoyed his family and friends, hunting and fishing.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John Byers Sykes and Juanita Tribble Sykes.

Mr. Sykes is survived by his wife of 32 years, Paula Smith Sykes of Indianola; Son, Jonathan Paul Sykes of Bruce, MS; daughter, Jennifer Sykes Vanlandingham (Gary Lee Vanlandingham, Jr.) of Moorhead, MS; brother, John Byers Sykes, Jr. (Anita Champion Sykes) of Charleston, MS; nephew, John Michael Sykes (Amy Sims Sykes) of Charleston, MS; niece, Katie Sykes Crenshaw (Lee Crenshaw) of Charleston, MS; and a host of Smith nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Pallbearers will be Bill Griffith, Mark Redden, Joe Reed, Jr., Bern Prewitt, Jr., Dave Alford, Ted Alford, Jimmy Barrett, and Bruce Fullen.

Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Bowen, Burt Mann, Robert Kittrell, Sylvester Banks, Paul Haley, Johny Spivey, and Paul Martin.
