Leonard "Herman" Cagle, 82 of Tyler passed away May 7, 2016. He was born July 29, 1933 in Tyler to Jabez Eber, Sr. and Mamie Meadows Cagle in Tyler. Herman and his twin brother John "Thurman" Cagle were the youngest of nine. Herman graduated from Chapel Hill High School in 1952 and attended Tyler Junior College. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army from 1953-1955. Herman retired from La Gloria Oil and Gas after 33 years of service. He was a Master Mason of the St. John Lodge No. 53 and a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He enjoyed sports of all kinds, especially the Dallas Cowboys. Herman enjoyed life and lived his to the fullest. He loved to spend time in his home away from home in Bullhead, Arizona. When in Tyler he attended their weekly Thursday morning Retirees Coffee Club. Herman was a godly man, a role model to many, always had a positive attitude and a smile on his face, loved to tell jokes, tall tales, and stories. Herman never met a stranger! He rode his 4-wheeler all over Big Oak Bay and loved to visit with his neighbors. He was always willing to help his friends and family. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and was even known to paint their toenails! He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Dorothy Ann Rushin Cagle of Tyler; children Kay Cagle Chapman Coy and husband Gary of North Richland Hills and Joe Herman Cagle and wife April of Whitehouse; sister Margarette Wilson of Tyler, grandchildren: Ashley Moreno and husband Charlie of Dallas, Ross Chapman of Dallas, Natalie and Jenna Cagle of Whitehouse, and many nieces and nephews and lifelong friends. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Ford officiating, under the direction of Jackson's Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at Williams Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Jackson's Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Monday. Pallbearers include Charles Hulsey, David Malone, Duane Moseley, Darrell Todd, Jeff Gaddis and F.T. Williams. Honorary pallbearers include Thurman Conant, Jimmy Ford, Charles Payne, John Gerdes, Kirk Meadows, Lloyd Garrett and the late Scott Palmer and Tom Chapman, and the retired employees of LaGloria Oil and Gas.
