He was the son of Charles and Matilda (Schaub) Burden. On Oct 12, 1949, he married Virginia R. Steinke, who survives.
Also surviving are five sons: John (Deb), Orlando, FL, Bill (Marlene), Pleasant Hill, Edward (Kathy), Botkins, Donald, Lima, and Robert (Lucille), West Liberty; three daughters: Mary Ann (Robert) Hall, Convoy, Elaine (Marcus) Taylor, Bellefontaine, and Carol (Van) Martin, Leesville, LA; a brother-in-law, Albin Steinke; two sisters-in-law: Fredonia Staley and Alice Steinke; and twenty grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren.
Deceased are daughter, two brothers, a sister and ½ brother, all linked below; four brothers-in-law: Leo (Catherine) Steinke, Marvin Staley, Donald (Martha) Steinke and Eugene Steinke; three sisters-in-law: Martha (Clem) Holthaus, Delores (Bernard) Schaub and Pauline Steinke; and two grandchildren.
Retired as a grain handler in 1992 from Provico, Botkins, after 44 years of service, he was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Botkins, and 1948 graduate of Botkins High School. In his younger years, he enjoyed bowling, and still enjoyed a good card game especially if he won.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with Rev. Patrick Sloneker officiating. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Botkins.
