Margaret Orme Bain was born Jan. 14, 1928 to Gilbert Charles and Elsa Harrigfeld Orme in St. Anthony, Idaho.
She attended Scripps College, Utah State, University of Idaho and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a journalism degree. She worked for the Deseret News, West High School and had her own market research company.
She married Dale Janney Bain on June 21, 1952. They were married for 59 years. He preceded her in death in 2012. Dale and Margaret traveled abroad extensively and later found a haven on the Big Island of Hawaii where they spent vacations with family for nearly 10 years.
She was a loving and generous wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She babysat her local grandchildren, Tyler, Dani and Jamie and they had a very close and loving relationship and she loved and adored her six California grandchildren.
Margaret enjoyed tending, going to hockey games, track and swim meets, baseball, softball, soccer, plays and musical events for her children and grandchildren. She did volunteer work for vision screening for the Delta Gamma Fraternity and at Peruvian Park Elementary as a reading tutor for several years. She was past president of Delta Gamma Alumnae.
She is survived by daughter Sue (Jim) Robertson, sons Alan (Annette) and Bruce Bain, Bain grandchildren Tyler (Emma), Dani (Matt), Jamie (Cal), Robertson grandchildren Bonnie, Logan (Liz), Gavin, Ethan, Rachel and Emma, and great-grandchild Olivia. Also, sister Soni Ekins, former daughters-in-law Vickie Bigelow, Connie Bain and Andrea Bain, two caring nieces Cheryl Orme and Barbara Ward and nephew Steven Ward. Preceded in death by a loving brother H.J. Orme and much-loved sister Florence Ward.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Kate Wilson and Mary Ellen Hardman for their love and kindness.
At her request, graveside services will be held at Wasatch Memorial Park, 3401 S. Highland Dr. SLC, UT on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing at 10:00 a.m.
