Grandmother Fricke, nee Marie Mesenbrink, was born in the district of Nienburg, Province of Hanover, Germany, on April 16, 1836. She came to America in 1849. She married Christian Fricke in 1854 at Lexington, where the family lived from that year until 1857. In the latter year they moved on their old farm near Emma, taking along enough lumber for a shed.
