Agnes K. Gathright, 88, of Strong, died on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 at Timberlane Health and Rehabilitation following a lengthy illness.

Born on Feb. 11, 1924 in Timpson, Texas, she was the daughter of John W. and Pearlie Foster Kyle. Agnes was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Strong and the Strong lodge of Eastern Star. She enjoyed swimming and fishing.
Agnes worked for over 40 years as an LPN starting at Warner Brown Hospital and later the Medical Center of South Arkansas. She was known as ‘Miss Agnes ‘for the loving care she provided to the many families she worked with through years in the nursery.

Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Curtis and Byron Kyle, a sister Allie Barnes, sons Barry and Keith Gathright, and her husband Max D. Gathright.

Survivors are a son Ted Gathright of Strong, a daughter Janice (Alva) Cobb of Germantown, Tenn., sisters Maureen Johnson of Leigh Acres, Fla. and Yvonne Tackett of Forrest, Va., daughter in laws Billie Gathright and Mona Johnson both of Strong, along with 11 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday Jan. 22, 2013 at Strong Cemetery with Rev. Rex McDaniel and Rev Luther Allgood officiating. The family will receive friends Monday evening 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Young’s Funeral Directors.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Timberlane Health and Rehabilitation and Life Touch Hospice for the loving care they provided ‘Miss Agnes’.
