Court Aide in Lockport Dies at 76
Youngstown – William E. Beatty, 76, of 344 Main St., Niagara County Court attendant in Lockport for the past seven years, died unexpectedly Wednesday at his home, apparently of a heart attack.
Born in Collingwood, Ont. On Dec. 19, 1896, a son of John and Sarah Beatty. He resided in Niagara Falls before coming here 33 years ago.
Mr. Beatty was a World War I veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He was owner and operator of the Old Fort Inn here from 1941 to 1948. He was a former car salesman in the Niagara Falls area at various agencies and had his own Hudson agency for many years.
He was the husband of the late Blanche Garrow Beatty.
Surviving are two daughters and six sons, Mrs. William Carkeet of Memphis, Tenn., John W. Beatty of Haddenfield, N.J., Robert Beatty of Richmond, Va., Richard Beatty of Rochester, Paul Beatty of Youngstown and Mrs. Howard Killian of Niagara Falls; a sister Mrs. Maybell Cobler of Niagara Falls; also 19 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday from Hardison Funeral Homes Inc., Lewiston, with the Rev. Charles Taylor of St. John's Episcopal Church officiating. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 tomorrow.
Burial will be in Riverdale Cemetery.
