Clyde Elbert Hagood, 65, of Niantic died 10:25 p.m. Tuesday (Dec. 17, 1996) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Illiopolis, with visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Memorials: Latham Baptist Church.
Mr. Hagood was born in Enfield on May 14, 1931, the son of James M. and Linnie Savage Hagood. He worked for DeKalb Poultry and was a member of Latham Baptist Church, where he was a former deacon. He enjoyed life and good conversation. He married Vera McNair on Feb. 10, 1953, in Olney.
Surviving are his wife; daughter, Gail L. Butler and husband Gene of Latham; sons, Steven C. and wife Theresa and Ricky L., all of Niantic; sisters, Ruby Stokes of Hawthorne, Calif.; Rosalie Bailey of Carmi; four grandchildren, Christopher, Aaron and Amy Hagood and Lisa Leslie; two great-grandchildren, Alyssa Leslie and Brian Leslie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, three sisters and one grandson.
