Last Saturday morning about 10 o'clock Adolph Widman died at his home in Badger Flat of heart failure. He had been in poor health for some time past, but on the morning if his death6 expressed himself as feeling much better, and his wife and friends were much encouraged. The deceased was born in Heilbron, Germany in 1824 and came to the United States in 1848, arriving in California in 1858. He was for some time employed in mining and building quartz mills. In 1857 he went to San Francisco and engaged in the wholesale slaughtering business and then in gold and silver refining. On leaving San Francisco he went to Mineral King mining district and in 1868 located to Los Banos where he made a beautiful home but through some mismanagement lost his property. The deceased served the public as postmaster under Grover Cleveland's first administration, and was well and favorably known all over the county. He was three times married and leaves a widow who has the sympathy of the entire community. His remains were shipped to San Francisco Tuesday [19th] and will be buried in the family plot of that city.

Adolph Widman, an old settler of the vicinity, died on the Chandler place at Badger Flat after an illness of over a month, aged about 76 years and a native of Germany. Mr Widman formerly kept the Public House in Old Los Banos for about fifteen years. He was a man universally esteemed in this location.
