Henrietta Eleanor "Hennie" York McGarvey, 86, of Harborcreek, Erie County, Pennsylvania, passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at University of Pennsylvania Medical Center, Hamot.

Born February 22, 1926, in Buffalo, Erie County, New York, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Henderson York and Helen Alice "Nellie" Delaney York.

She was a loving wife and mother. She spent many years working on her sister, Dorothy's, grape farm along beside her other sisters. Hennie also was a special needs bus driver for many years for the Harborcreek School District until her retirement. She enjoyed visiting with her friends for many years at McDonald's in Harborcreek.

She was preceded in death by not only her parents, but also her husband of 54 years, Howard W. McGarvey; sisters, Marian Cecile "Mary" York, Helen Marie York Chesley, Genevieve Elizabeth York Halloran, Dorothy M. York Schue Silveus, Loretta Agnes York Parmenter, and Elizabeth "Betty" York Ore Karlson; brothers, Robert K. York, Joseph Henderson York, Jr., and Kenneth Lawrence York.

Surviving her are three sons; a daughter; a sister; a brother; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a great-great granddaughter; and Hennie's beloved dog; Chloe.

Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home Friday, September 21, 2012, from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, September 22, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Keith McGarvey, Pastor of the South Harborcreek United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment in North East Cemetery.
