Lena was the youngest child of J. Elmer and Mary Cecelia "Mae" Breheny Smith. About 1940, Lena married Raymond George Wilhite. To this union, 2 children were born: Judith Diane and Raymond Eugene. About 1944, Lena and Raymond divorced. In January 1954, Lena married Orville E. Stout, and they were divorced after a brief marriage. Lena worked as a bookkeeper in Davenport, and she shared a home for a time with her sister Ruth Smith Wickman. She briefly visited her son and her brother Edward L. Smith in California. In 1993,Lena's grandson David Hugh Rosche died in Norfolk City, Virginia (Memorial #72066927).
