Edward Madison Ischy, age 90 of Georgetown, Texas passed away on March 5, 2016. He was born November 23, 1925 in Georgetown to Paul and Ola (Green) Ischy. Edward married Doris Miller on October 1, 1944 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Walburg, Texas.

As a young man, he hauled hay, cut wood, farmed and ranched. He served in the 77th Infantry Division of the United States Army from 1944 to 1946. He then served as a postal worker for 28 years until his retirement.

Doris and Edward loved traveling throughout the United States with the Granger Roadrunners. Over the years, they loved taking care of their vast gardens and large pet collection. They celebrated 70 years of marriage on October 1, 2014.

He is preceded in death by his siblings: John, Eugene, Armin, Flora Robbins, and Pauline Miller. Also preceded by his wife Doris, daughter Bonnie (Ischy) Hobratsch, in-laws Mary Ann Sydow and Gladys Miller.

He is survived by sister Icie Williams of Terrell, Texas, daughter Debby Ischy, son Steve Ischy and wife Barbara, son Phil, son Bruce and Lu Griffin. Survivors also include: brother-in-law Louis Miller, brother-in-law Ray Miller and wife Betty, brother-in-law Vernon Sydow, 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday March 9th, 2016 at Gabriel’s Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas from 5-7pm.

Funeral service will be Thursday March 10th, 2016 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Walburg, Texas at 10:30am.
