ROCK HILL – Mr. Robert Eugene “Gene” Cranford, 70, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2016 at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Woodhaven Baptist Church with Dr. Tom Patterson officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12-1:30pm. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.

Born in Savannah, GA, Mr. Cranford was a son of the late Lloyd Cranford and the late Helen Auten Cranford. He was a 1963 graduate of Rock Hill High School. He was retired from the SC National Guard with 26 years of service and also retired from US Plywood. He was a member of Woodhaven Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and choir member. He also handled the maintenance at the Child Development Center at the church. He most enjoyed being a member of the Hearts of Gold with his wife, Gloria. He drove the church bus and enjoyed all the trips they took with the seniors of the church.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Gloria Moss Cranford; his daughters, Angela C. Seed (Derek), Anita C. Andrews and Alison C. Mayhugh (Justin), all of Rock Hill; his brothers, Bill Cranford of Rock Hill, David Cranford of Summerville and Jack Cranford of CA; his sister, Lucille Haire of Rock Hill; and his grandchildren, Jordan, Kara, Orin and Ellerry. He was preceded in death by his brother, Delton Cranford and his sister, Wyolene Player.
