Death of Prominent Lawyer - Judge John K. Porter, who was the
prosecuting attorney in the great Guiteau case,
died at his home in Waterford Monday morn-
ing. He was stricken with illness a short time
after the conclusion of the Guiteau case snd
has been confined to his bed most of the time since then. It will he remembered that Guiteau had to offer up his life for that of President Garfield's, which he took, and the
name of Judge Porter was at that time upon the lips of everyone,
John K Porter is written up in Sylvester's History of Saratoga County p.143-145 with photo on p.142a. It has not been verified that he is in the Cramer vault but that is the most likely place.
