Our dear Mother, LaRue Brown Vogeler Romney, age 95, died on January 4, 1992 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born September 16, 1896 in Salt Lake City to Samuel J. and Elizabeth Solomon Brown. She was the youngest of 14 children. She married Elwin A. Vogeler on June 16, 1917 in Ogden, Utah. He died September 18, 1926. Married Melbourne Romney on December 29, 1948, in Salt Lake City. They were happily married for 25 years. He died January 31, 1973.
She was a member of the LDS Church; taught Primary in the Richards Ward. She was a talented seamstress and loved to travel. Member of the Ambassador Ladies Club and the Ladies Literary Club.
Survived by a daughter, Helen V. Smith (Roland); and a son, Howard E. Vogeler (Dona). Another son, Elwin A. ''Moose'' Vogeler, died during WW II. She has three granddaughters, Dr. Stacey A. Smith, New York City; Kathryn Muncy, and Gail Black, Salt Lake City; (two grandsons, David Vogeler and Paul Vogeler both preceded her in death); six great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; numerous loving nephews and nieces; and a brother-in-law, August Vogeler, Elko, Nevada. She is also survived by three stepchildren, Emma Lou Moray, Millie Rue Dunn; and Melbourne Romney, Jr.; 12 step-grandchildren and 19 step-great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank a very special friend, Dale Barton, whose love and concern have been expressed in many ways through the years. ''We love you Mom, and will miss you!''
Visitation on Monday January 6th from 6-8 PM, Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple. Private services and burial on Tuesday.
