Richard Lee Abbott died September 17, 2012 at his Graham home. He was 72.

Born August 12, 1940 in Cincinnati, Ohio to parents Theodore Leonard and Margaret Mary Burnett Abbott, Dick grew up on a farm in the Puyallup valley. He graduated from Puyallup High School, attended Washington State University, and the University of Hawaii. After two years in Hawaii, he became an entrepreneur in the Seattle and Tacoma areas, starting and running many businesses over the years; his lifelong business was in moving and storage. He met Millie Elaine Carlson in the mid-1960’s in Seattle; they moved to Puyallup in 1979. Dick enjoyed traveling with Millie, conventions for work, the daily crossword and playing Scrabble, and family activities, including barbeques in the backyard.

Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Millie, in 1999; brother and his wife, Ted and Joyce Abbott; and brothers-in-law Ed Pooley and George Dietsch.

Memorial services and graveside inurnment were held Wednesday, September 26th at 11:00 a.m. at Chambers Creek Chapel at New Tacoma Cemetery.
