Johney Franklin Reynolds, 82, of Winston Salem, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who loved the Lord, died Sunday, October 14, 2007 at Forsyth Medical Center.


He was born July 2, 1925 in Talmo, GA a son of the late Claude and Minnie Hendrix Reynolds. He was a retired employee of 33 years with McLean Trucking Co. and was a veteran U.S. Navy & U.S. Marines in the Caribbean, Mediterranean and Pacific area during World War II an received the WW II Victory Medal, Navy Occupation Service Medal and the China Service Medal. Mr. Reynolds was a member of the Crestview Missionary Baptist Church, Past Master of Salem Masonic Lodge #289 A.F. & A.M., twice past Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Twin City Chapter #60 and was a Scottish Rite Mason. Mr. Reynolds loved his dogs, Sheba and Deliah and also loved to work crossword puzzles, loved hunting, fishing and working in his shop.


He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Reynolds.


On April 28, 1955 he was married to Shirley Goad, who survives of the home. Also surviving are three daughters, Dianna Carter and husband, Mark of Youngsville, Debbie Bunker and husband, Tony of Clemmons and Kathy Link and husband, Bill of Dover, PA; two sons, Johnny F. Reynolds, Jr. and wife, Melanie of Burlington and Richard Reynolds and wife, Susan of Lewisville; ten grandchildren, David Robertson and wife, Anitra, Robin Bodtmann, Marcia Vanderburg and husband, Doug, Carla Miller and husband, Brent, Billy Reynolds, Herman Guy Hiatt III, Samantha Reynolds, Elizabeth Link, Edward Link II and Olivia Mary Reynolds; 13 great-grandchildren, Zachary Markle, Tiffany Mah, Ty Markle, Taylor Bayles, Christian, and Lucas Vanderburg, Candice, and Ashlyn Miller, Chloe, Claudia and Chandler Bodtmann, Austin, and Allison Robertson; and three step-great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Maggie and Hunter Vanderburg.


Funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at Crestview Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Otis Hurst officiating. Entombment will be in the Parklawn Memorial Park Mausoleum with military rites provided by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard and Masonic graveside rites provided by the Salem Masonic Lodge.


The body will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home (Wallburg Chapel) until placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.
