James Richard Loeb was born on August 11, 1957 in San Bernardino, Calif. A 1975 graduate of Glendale High School in Springfield, Mo., Jim did well in school and was on the wrestling team. In his free time, he worked hard to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, ultimately receiving his medal alongside his dear friend, John Hutchison. Jim pursued his passion for aviation, graduating from the University of Central Missouri, Warrensburg in 1991 with a Master of Science in Aviation Safety. He went on to work for 15 years as an employee of the US Govt. reviewing Boeing contracts in Wichita, Kan. Jim passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2009, of natural causes related to his seizure disorder predisposed by a head injury suffered earlier in life. Jim was preceded in death by his younger brother, Jeffrey. He is survived by his parents, Dr. Richard H. and Faye M. Loeb; his sister, Jann, her husband Russ and their two children Eva and Truett; as well as his sister-in-law, Angela Loeb and her two children, Margeaux and Carter. Jim loved sports, especially running and golf, and he had a wonderfully dry sense of humor. Arrangements have been made through Gorman-Scharpf for a private, family memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to The Kitchen, 1630 N. Jefferson, Springfield, MO 65803 or Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2818 E. Bennett, Springfield, MO 65804. We love you, Jim. You will be missed every day.
